    Delete account

    Zeitlernen is a service of blackpine GmbH. This page explains how to delete your account and the data attached to it: yourself in the app or browser, or on request by email.

    1. Delete it yourself

    The fastest way. The account is gone right away, with no waiting period.

    In the app (iOS and Android)

    1. Tap «Parents» at the bottom and sign in.
    2. Open «Settings» and solve the parent gate's arithmetic task.
    3. Go to the «Delete account» section.
    4. Tap «Delete account», confirm the question, then type the word DELETE.

    In the browser

    1. Sign in at zeitlernen.app.
    2. Click your profile picture at the top right and choose «Settings».
    3. Go to the «Delete account» section.
    4. Click «Delete account», confirm the question, then type the word DELETE.

    Account and data are deleted immediately, you are signed out and receive a confirmation by email. This cannot be undone.

    2. Request deletion by email

    If you can no longer get into your account, because the password or the device is gone, an email is enough:

    1. Write to support@zeitlernen.app from the email address the account was created with.
    2. Subject: «Deletion of my account».
    3. Name the account's email address. We do not need anything else.

    We verify the request through the email address on file and delete the account within 30 days, usually much sooner. You then receive a confirmation.

    What gets deleted

    Everything attached to the account goes with it:

    • Account and credentials: email address, password and linked sign-ins via Apple, Google or Microsoft
    • Profile details: display name, language, avatar
    • Child profiles: first name, year of birth and avatar of every child created
    • Learning progress: quiz rounds, answers, learning events and daily statistics
    • Account settings, for example for the clock, notifications and two-factor sign-in
    • Membership of a school or class

    What remains, and for how long

    Three things outlast the deletion, each for a specific reason:

    • Database backups: the daily backup holds the state from before the deletion. It is overwritten in the ordinary cycle, after 30 days at the latest. We do not restore deleted accounts from a backup.
    • Newsletter suppression list: if you unsubscribed from the newsletter, your email address stays on that list. It is the only way we can make sure you receive no further newsletters.
    • Retention required by law: where the law obliges us to keep certain details, we keep them for as long as prescribed and no longer.

    Played without an account?

    In guest mode the progress stays on the device only, nothing about it is stored with us. Deleting the app, or clearing the site data for zeitlernen.app in the browser, is enough.

    School accounts

    If your child uses Zeitlernen through their school, that data belongs to the school. We process it on the school's behalf and may only delete it on the school's instruction. In that case please contact the teacher or the school management. If you are unsure who owns an account, write to us and we will clarify it.
